Empowerment Through Education
Scholarship Program
Our hope is that by
providing the opportunity to further one’s education, the scholarship
participants will not only be able to improve their own future, but also that
of their own communities. The foundation believes in the power and importance
of community service and, as a result, all scholarship participants are
required to volunteer for a minimum of one month a year.
New Application Process Beginning in
December 2013
In October, we announced
that beginning in December 2013 the Empowerment Through Education Scholarship
Program would transition to accepting applications on our website (not via
email). We look forward to expanding our reach, moving our scholarship program
into the twenty-first century and providing our applicants with the most
reliable review process available. For those interested in learning how we
made this decision and how it will positively impact applicants worldwide,

You
might ask…
Why
has WMF moved to using an online scholarship management application
process?
As applicant numbers
continue to rise, WMF is committed to the fair review of all complete
applications. The paper application process had become inefficient in terms of
delivering the highest commitment of application review to our students and
providing the largest amount of financial scholarship support. As an
organization we identified the following inefficiency areas, resulting in our
positive decision to move online; time (downloading,
emailing, printing, organizing), cost (paper,
ink, printer maintenance, staff hours), environmental affects (printing
of 23,000+pages of paper), unreliability of mail delivery (resulting
in highly qualified applications not being eligible for review) and human error (the accidental misplacement of an
required application element).
How
is it beneficial for applicants?
The online application
will enable students to prepare their application over a four month period if
desired (from December 2013-April 1, 2014). Applicants are able to complete
their application at any time before April 1, 2014 at 11:59pm EST. This time
frame will allow students to prepare complete applications and submit all of
their necessary documents. Applicants can rest assured that once their application
is complete and submitted, all documents will be reviewed.
In case of a natural
disaster or any unpredictable circumstances that would affect the physical
application, this issue is now mitigated through all applications being saved
automatically on a secure computer server (a cloud based system). Once an
application is started or submitted, the data is never lost or damaged.
The
Wells Mountain Foundation remains committed to providing scholarship
opportunities that are not associated with application fees. The transition to
an online scholarship management system will allow for this commitment to
continue.

Supporting a Scholarship
ATTENTION SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS!
It has come to the attention of WMF that someone
is trying to defraud those who apply for our scholarships. No matter what you
may be told there are NO FEES required to submit a scholarship application to
the Wells Mountain Foundation! You only need to submit a complete application
through our website, by our one deadline each year of April 1. If someone
contacts you saying a fee is required, please forward that email to info@wellsmountainfoundation.org. We would very much like to prosecute this
fraud.
