MANDELA: REFUSED TO PLAY SMALL

"I would rather die of passion than boredom." Vincent van Gogh
Early in his teenage life Madiba believed that he had a passion of being a king or chief. He learned the principles of democracy in family meetings. Mandiba and Oliva Tambo were the first to open an advocate office in Johannesburg. It was just the opposite of high court. The whites did not like this gesture! In 1963 he was charged of treason and therefore was bound either to face death or lifetime term in prison. Due to his consuming passion he said he was ready to die for the cause of justice. He was called names such as the trouble-maker, the terrorist, the sabbotager etc. But he did not consent because his passion was noble. He finally verbalized it, "there is no passion to be found in playing small things--in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of doing. The 27 years in prison together with hard work would not quench the passion for bigger and ideal things; his divorce would not stop him going forward; even some South African violent approaches in seeking for justice would not deter him! This is the man for the 20th  and 21st century. You could be greater than Mandela, only find your place and play big!
